If you’ve been here for a while, you’ve probably noticed that I’m not the best at staying true to my monthly TBR goals. This doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop making these lists for myself. I find that compiling a small list of titles for the month makes reading the books on my shelves less daunting. After all, having a list of 6 or 7 books to choose from is much easier than staring at 100 unread books and trying to decide what to read in the moment. I might still find myself doing this throughout the month, as I can be a mood reader, but having a small collection of titles to look through puts my mind at ease – even if I’m not selecting books from it all the time.
Now that I’ve gotten into the swing of things with Yzma, I think I’ve gotten an appropriate sized list of books I hope to read this month. No, it’s not a long list. And yes, it’s still most of the books I had on my September TBR. But I still aim to finish these books before returning them to my friend and I have to do that sooner rather than later.
Without further ado, here’s what I hope to read in the month of October:
Total Books: 5
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee: I’ve heard nothing but great things about this book so I can’t wait to dive into this story. As it’s one of the books I’ve borrow, it’s the first physical book that I aim to read this month.
A Wolf Apart by Maria Vale: This is the second book in the The Legend of All Wolves series. I’ve borrowed an eCopy of the book from my library and am planning on making this my commuting story. A romance series about werewolves, my goal is to see if plot points from the first romance found in The Last Wolf have any impact on the rest of the series.
Lodestar by Shannon Messenger: I thought I was ready to jump back into this series last month but I was wrong. In September I got about 3 pages in, remembered all of the feels I felt while reading Neverseen, and put the book back down. I might be ready to deal with the aftermath of these events so I’m ready to give the book another try.
Part of Your World by Liz Braswell: I have to be honest, after forcing myself to read A Whole New World in September, I’m not looking forward to this read. However, I’m determined to give the book and Braswell another try. I’m hoping that this The Little Mermaid inspired story will be more enjoyable to me.
Industrial Magic by Kelley Armstrong: This is the fourth book in Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series and right where I left off on the series back in June. I’ve got to admit, I’m putting this book here because I know I can fly through it and I’ll enjoy every second of my read. Yes, this is an easy hurdle for me to jump, but sometimes you’ve got to give these things to yourself. You can’t expect yourself to go above and beyond every time. Besides, I plan on using this book as a bit of a pallet cleanser should I need it.
Is there anything that you’re looking forward to reading this month? Are you the kind of person that’ll create a TBR or are you a mood reader? If you do make a TBR, are you better than me at sticking true to it? I’d love to hear what you have to say and I hope you have a fantastic reading month.
